Anthony Klotz Speaker Biography

Anthony Klotz is best known for having coined the phrase “The Great Resignation” in an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek in May 2021. In the interview and in an op-ed for NBC THINK shortly after, he identified multiple trends he observed as the pandemic eased, that he predicted would lead to record high voluntary turnover in the US workforce. Anthony’s theory was based on his research on employee resignations, and his expertise in organizational psychology. Since then, as the US economy has experienced over a year of record rates of resignations. During this time, Anthony has repeatedly appeared in the media to discuss The Great Resignation, and has met with hundreds of organizational leaders to share his insights for how companies can not only weather The Great Resignation, but strengthen employee engagement through it.

Anthony is also an Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior at UCL School of Management in London. Anthony’s research on resignations has been published in top management journals, and his insights from this research have been featured in Harvard Business Review and the Wall Street Journal. He teaches Organizational Behavior at the doctoral level, Leadership at the MBA level, and HR Management at the undergraduate and graduate levels, which leaves him well-equipped to not just speak, but to engage in conversations with leaders and HR professionals about the workforce issues they are facing, and to offer evidence-based insights for how to respond.

Responding to The Great Resignation and Shaping the Future of Work
The Great Resignation is here, but what comes next?

There is an opportunity right now for leaders to embrace this moment of disruption and reshape the future of work. In this session, management professor Anthony Klotz provides actionable, evidence-based insights regarding how companies can craft talent management strategies that address the different causes of the Great Resignation, and explains how doing so can leave companies position to thrive in the talent marketplace of the future.

In an interactive format, he engages with the clients and audience, and answers their questions when it comes to this potential silver lining of the challenging past two years—this opportunity to redesign the future of work in ways that are more sustainable for the well-being and performance of workers, leaders, and firms.

How Nature Can Energize Your Employees
Nearly every company is redesigning the ways that their employees work, with the goal of creating jobs that motivate high performance and enhance worker well-being.

Drawing from his research on work design, and why and how contact with the natural world energizes employees, organizational psychologist Anthony Klotz explains how companies can redesign work in ways that bring employees in closer contact with nature, and the benefits of doing so for workers, organizations, and the planet.

In an engaging and entertaining way, Anthony shows audiences examples of how companies are currently incorporating natural elements into employees’ work lives, and explains the science behind how these efforts affect how workers think, feel, and connect with others.

The talk leaves attendees inspired to build more nature into their own workdays, whether remote or in the office. Moreover, it gives them the knowledge of how to use nature to design jobs that energize employees and create a greener, more sustainable future of work.
